The Young Historians Project (YHP) is a UK–based collective which promotes the scholarship and popular understanding of Black history. YHP encourages the development of young people of African and Caribbean heritage into historians, researchers, editors, public speakers, creatives, and more.

Why does YHP exist?

A recent YouGov survey found that more than half of UK adults cannot name a single Black British historical figure. 75% of respondents answered that they did not know ‘very much’ or ‘anything at all’ about Black British history.
